Stuck in Truckee

But I’m free now!! So, the OP sent my package back on monday, even though they knew I was right there waiting for it, and I ended up having to call REI and reorder my gear and have them send it to the hotel I was staying in. Sadly I order it to late in the day to get over night shipping and had to wait until wednesday. So ended up taking two zeros and two neros. Nice little brake, but an unwanted brake.
On to the happy news though!! I got my package! New shoes and socks!

No more bloody heels after a long day of hiking!! So happy! I also got a new shelter too. Here it is… It’s a hammock!!

I cannot wait to get to camp and test this baby out! It was super comfy when I first set it up, it was really easy to set up too, first time it took me about ten minutes, eight or so the second time. Might not seem to fast but I know it’ll only get faster once I get use to it.
I’d like to thank all the trail angels I’ve run in to near Donnor Pass. Thanks for all the magic!! It’s great to be back on the trail!!

Goodbye Truckee!

Truckee

Here I sit outside of the Truckee post office, waiting, for my package wishing I was back on the trail, up in the mountains. It’s boring in town, I now know more about meerkats than I ever thought I would, thanks Animal Planet(Surprisingly Human). The evil old lady working at the PO told me that they wont have any of the packages that were delivered this morning until 2 in the afternoon. She looked at me like the stupidest person on the planet for not knowing this, not the most hiker friendly PO on the trail. So here I am, stuck for another day in town, bored out of my mind.

Getting Truckee was fun though, got to Echo Lake around two or so, sat around outside of the store with some other hiker trash, got a new hat( I lost my old one going into Tahoe)

20130708-110254.jpg
I finally left Echo around five or so and ended up camping at Aloha Lake about five miles out. Before I got out though I got a call from my family and they passed the phone around saying hello, wishing luck, and congratulating me for making it this far, which was really really nice.

The next day I finally caught up to my group and we headed to Donor Pass. All I have to say about this section is, holy shit ski resorts!! They are every where here!

Once we got to Donor Pass on sunday, we ran into some trail angels doing magic. I had my nine oclock beer and some watermelon, then some hikers got dropped off and their driver offered me a ride into town. He showed me around and then dropped me off at the post office and I found a place to stay, eat a lot of food, and now I sit and wait for this stupid package. Hopefully I’ll be back on the trail before five!

It’s been a while

Well, I’m here in South Lake Tahoe, on the 4th and it’s proving to be a hard town to get out of since it’s a holiday, but also it just an awesome town.

Lake Tahoe!!

20130704-161713.jpg
So this is where I stay in Tahoe. Long story short, because I’m tired of typing. We were wondering around town looking for a place to stay and this guy drives and yells hiker trash at us. We asked if he had a place for us to stay an he said yes, I have four beds and a couch, plus a jacuzzi! It was awesome and ended up staying there two nights. He even let us use his car! One of the best town stops ever.

To Mammoth!

Well, I’m in Mammoth. It was a weird trip getting here. I left my wallet on the bus leaving Bishop and had to stay in Independence a lot longer than I had planned and only got to hike about two or so miles. Not Pct miles, I still had five more until I was back on the trail.
Due to a misunderstanding on my part I decided that I was going to hike the next 117 miles to Mammoth in five days, and being my normal self I decided to do it in one of the stupider ways. These are my miles per day, day one 13 miles, day two 30 miles, day three 30 miles, day four 18 miles, day five 26 miles. Every day I had over 4000 feet gained and lost. Both 30 mile days had over 7000 gain and loss. I was not smart about how I did this as you can tell.
So I’m here taking a zero at Mammoth. Got to see my folks and am feed a lot of town food!

I had a lot of fun this section even though I rushed past what some would say is the best part the trail. I know for a fact I will be going through those parts again. Now it’s time for more town food!

Pizza Adventure! So I got an idea. I’ll go down to lonepine and get food, pizza, and beer, then I’ll bring it back to the group I’ve been hiking with. It work out great! I got a ride into town and a ride back to the trail by some amazing people. Sadly I’m bad with names and I cannot remember their names.
